Bennett gets his groove back

This was a pretty good week. Bennett did better each day. Today he got his feeding tube out and his air is reducing again! He's eating all of his food through a bottle again. He's in track to be home in a week or 2 and is about where was a few weeks ago before his eye surgery. The surgery mostly worked. They'll check again this week and hopefully they'll discover that it completely worked.

This week was also Grandpa Garnon's birthday and our 9th wedding anniversary.

Andrew is doing great and is getting outside for walks and sleeping and eating well.

We held a blessing for the boys at the hospital. A great group of friends and my parents attended. Juli wrote this blessing for the boys:

Bennett and Andrew-

Welcome to the world, welcome to Portland and welcome to the loving tribe of family and friends who care about you so much.

As twins you are born with a built in best friend... You will benefit so much from having a brother who will have your back and make you laugh like nobody else can. You also have a big sister who will lead the way and loves to have a good time.

Your parents are two of the finest people on the planet and I know they will do everything in their power to make you feel loved and happy and important.

You have already shown that you are resilient and strong... Being born early is a tough break and you are taking it on bravely. We are so proud of you both.

We have several wishes for you and I look forward to watching you experience the world.

May you be happy and respectful.

May you be healthy.

May you find the things on earth that make you feel alive. Be it running, or swimming, or star gazing or music... Find what makes your heart sing and thrive in it.

May you laugh often.

May you experience yummy foods- bread baked fresh from the oven (ask your aunt Erin to make you some), your moms strawberry pie, and your dads kielbasa on late night camping trips.

May you run fast in the grant track meets, swim strongly at the southwest community center and have huge grins when you ride on the max for the first time.

May you dance and play and ski in the snow up at mt hood and jump around in the waves in the pacific.

May you be spiritual in a way that has meaning to you.

May you continue to shine brightly and be well rounded adults with your own beautiful families and wise and happy old men.

We love you very much.
